The 90 minutes that change everything

When people first reach out, they are often surprised to hear that we do not offer a free chat before we begin work together.

I understand why. It is what most people are used to. A quick call, a bit of back and forth, a proposal that follows. But early in my career, in hospitality, I learned something that has never left me: the moment someone gives you their attention is the moment that matters most. Not the polished follow-up. Not the brochure. The room itself, and how much care goes into the first hour someone spends in it.

That is why every project with The Haus Collective begins with a paid, 90-minute consultation.

It is not a sales call. It is not a chance for me to pitch you on why we should work together. It is the opposite. It is 90 minutes where I sit with you, in your space, and actually listen. To how you live. To what has been bothering you about a room for years. To the plans you have half made and the ones you have not said out loud yet. I ask the questions that get past "I want it to feel more modern" and toward what modern actually means for your life.

By the end, you do not just have a nice conversation behind you. You have direction. Clear next steps, tailored to your space, and a proposal where it makes sense to move forward - credited fully against your first invoice if you do.

I ask people to invest in that hour because I believe it deserves to be taken seriously, by both of us. A free call rarely gets past small talk. A paid one gets straight to the truth of a space, and the people in it.

That, to me, is where good design actually starts. Not with a mood board. With ninety minutes of real attention.
