The Coop at Dromoland
Completed in 2025
The Brief
A sensitive conversion of the original castle pigeon coop at Dromoland, later used as storage and a temporary shop, into a wellness space for yoga, sound baths, Pilates, and movement-based exercise.
The Challenge
The building had strong character but lacked the clarity, atmosphere, and functionality needed for a studio environment. The aim was to create a calm and adaptable space while preserving the integrity of the original structure.
The Approach
The original brickwork was retained as a defining feature of the interior, while the layout was adapted to support a range of wellness practices. A bathroom and locker room area were also introduced to make the space more practical and complete for everyday use.
The Outcome
The result is a serene and distinctive wellness studio that gives renewed purpose to a historic outbuilding, combining original character with a quieter, more restorative way of inhabiting the space.
