The Brief
A full interior redesign of Orchard Wood, with the aim of creating a five-star rental property that could sit confidently alongside a well-renowned hospitality brand. The brief was to elevate the house into a high-end guest experience while keeping the design practical, warm, and commercially sensible.

The Challenge
The property had five bedrooms, but the bathrooms were extremely small and not suited to the level of comfort expected from a luxury rental. The challenge was to make the house feel more generous and refined without overextending the budget or unnecessarily replacing elements that still had value.

A key part of the design strategy was deciding where to simplify, where to invest, and where to retain the existing structure and finishes.

The Approach
The layout was reworked to create three large bedrooms, each with its own spacious en-suite, rather than five smaller bedrooms with compromised bathrooms. This gave the property a stronger sense of comfort, privacy, and quality, better suited to a five-star rental experience.

Downstairs, the house retained a generous powder room, a large living room, a conservatory reading corner, and a spacious kitchen. The aim was to create a home that felt luxurious but relaxed, with plenty of room for guests to gather, retreat, and enjoy the property at a slower pace.

In the kitchen, the existing skeleton of the structure was kept, along with the granite, allowing the budget to be used more intelligently. The flooring was removed, the space was repainted, and key finishes were refreshed to give the kitchen a cleaner, brighter, and more elevated feel without the need for a full replacement.

Throughout the property, the design approach was focused on smart decisions: retaining what worked, improving what mattered most, and creating a more generous sense of space and comfort.

The Outcome
The result is a more refined and commercially considered rental property, designed to feel like a five-star countryside escape. Orchard Wood now offers three large en-suite bedrooms, generous shared spaces, and a calmer, more polished guest experience.

By simplifying the layout and making careful budget-led choices, the property was transformed into a warm, spacious, and high-quality rental home with the comfort and atmosphere expected from a luxury stay.
